The Programme

A Week of Inner and Shared Work

The conference programme has been carefully shaped by the FG (Facilitating Group) to weave together contemplative morning work, artistic activities, plenary conversations, parallel workshops, and evenings of encounter. Below is the full schedule of our days together at Hotel Marina-Port.

ASD Conference 2026 Programme Schedule

The Spring Report from the FG contains a deeper introduction to the theme, a historical interview with Bernard Lievegoed from 1983, news about a new FG member, and a first look at the 2027 conference venue in Brazil.

Budapest Biography Sightseeing

Discover Budapest through an Anthroposophical Lens

After the conference, we offer a series of guided tours in Budapest – each one a journey into the city's deeper layers. These are not ordinary sightseeing walks: through monuments, geology, energy landscapes, and sacred history, we explore what freedom, destiny, and memory mean in the life of a city and in our own lives. The tours are led by Eszter, Kata, Kriszta, Ágoston, and Tamás.

🗓 Saturday, 6 June

Afternoon – Szabadság tér & Parliament

16:00–18:00

A walking tour through one of downtown Pest's most remarkable squares, where monuments and buildings carry histories that speak directly to the theme of freedom. The walk concludes at the Parliament building.

  • Bus departs from Hotel Marina-Port at 14:00 (after lunch)
  • Arrival in Budapest ~16:00
⚠ No return bus on Saturday evening – please arrange your own way back, or stay overnight in Budapest.
🗓 Sunday, 7 June

Morning – Buda Castle District

11:00–13:00 (choose one of two parallel tours)

Tour A – Geology & biography: We explore Budapest's geological bedrock and how the city's physical foundations have shaped its history – and seek parallels with our own personal lives.

Tour B – Geomantic walk: Through our living connection to Budapest, we seek traces of a forgotten knowledge describing the energy systems permeating the human body and the Earth's landscapes.

  • Bus departs from Balatonkenese at 09:00

Afternoon – Dohány Street Synagogue

14:00–16:00

A guided visit to the largest synagogue in Europe and the second largest in the world – followed by an informal conversation reflecting on the history of this place and the story of Hungarian Jewry.

  • After lunch in Budapest
Cost: €50 per person, per tour. Transportation between the hotel and the starting point is not included in the tour price.

Social Evening – A Taste of Our Countries

Getting There

Hotel Marina-Port is located on the shores of Lake Balaton in Balatonkenese, Kikötő utca 2-4., Hungary — about 100 km southwest of Budapest.

Route from Budapest Airport to Hotel Marina-Port – 127 km, approx. 1 hr 22 min by car

Budapest Airport → Hotel Marina-Port · 127 km · ~1 hr 22 min · Open in Google Maps

📌 Recommendation

Train if you are already in Budapest · Taxi or organized transfer if arriving directly at the airport

🚆 Train (recommended)

Trains run from Budapest Kelenföld station to Balatonkenese roughly every hour. Journey time: 75–95 minutes. Ticket price: approx. €8–12 per person. The main trains are the Vízipók express (~75 min) and the Katica InterRégió (~90 min).

We have a dedicated page with the full arrival schedule, step-by-step airport directions, and ticket buying guide:

🚇 Getting to Kelenföld from the airport

The most straightforward option:

  • Bus 100E → Kálvin tér
  • Metro M4 (Kálvin tér → Kelenföld)

Travel time: 45–60 minutes

💰 Total from airport to Balatonkenese: approx. 2.5–3 hours, approx. €10–25 per person (bus + metro + train)

🚖 Taxi / organized transfer (recommended for convenience)

Traveling by taxi from the airport takes approximately 1–1.5 hours and is the most convenient option. We are currently working on arranging a special fixed-rate taxi service for participants. Based on the arrival information you have provided, we aim to group participants (3–4 people per car) so that you can share a taxi — significantly reducing the cost per person while ensuring maximum comfort.

We will share more details about this option shortly.

🚌 Bus (not recommended)

There is no direct bus from Budapest to Balatonkenese. It would require at least one transfer (typically in Veszprém) and takes around 3–3.5 hours.

🚗 By car

Free parking available in the hotel's open car park.

ASD Transfer Service

Please indicate your transfer needs using the registration form below. The Host Group arranges transfers between the hotel and the airport / railway station for you.

Room Sharing – Find a Roommate

As we move toward the 2026 ASD Conference at Lake Balaton, a number of members have said they would be happy to share a room with another participant. For some, this is a way to practice the social side of the conference from the start; for others, it also helps with costs.

To support this, we have opened a dedicated channel on NextCloud where those interested in room sharing can find each other and connect. The channel is simply a place to meet — to see who is open to sharing and to take the next steps together.

Room sharing channel on NextCloud

Channel name: Room sharing - 2026 Balaton

If this possibility speaks to you, we encourage you to:

  • Register for the conference, and
  • Visit the NextCloud platform, where you will find the room-sharing channel and all further practical information.

We keep a webpage that brings together all conference information in one place: www.asd-international.org/invitation/2026.

We hope this small gesture makes the step toward registration a little lighter and supports the sense of community that many of us value.
